Little People Big Dreams
For Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, a Barcelona-born writer and creative director, children’s books are more than just stories. For over fifteen years, she’s been using her advertising expertise to build a bridge between kids and the world around them. Her innovative books, infused with pop culture references and playful learning, are redefining the way children experience the joy of reading.
Little People, Big Dreams is her series of children’s books. The series explores the lives of notable people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. The books are told as a story with illustrations from over 70 different artists. A section containing facts, photos and a timeline is shown at the back of the book.
At the beginning the series was first published in Spain as Pequeña & GRANDE by Alba Editorial, and now Little People, BIG DREAMS is translated into more than thirty-three languages. Maria Isabel likes to think the success of the series relies on the fact that children love to read real stories about other children’s experiences, lives and journeys. It gives them the strength and the courage to believe in themselves and dream BIG. As The Independent once said: “What a cool way to drift off to sleep.”
